Our Research Programs
A multidisciplinary research approach integrating Indigenous knowledge.
Circumpolar regions encounter overlapping pressures that result in a variety of health gaps. We recognize a need for multidisciplinary research approaches that focus on broader understandings of wellness, complex underlying disparities, and the interconnectedness of health with other sectors like education, social justice, and the environment.
Indigenous knowledge research is critical to solving our collective problems. We promote circumpolar research built on Indigenous values and traditions and embrace community-based research methods and approaches that engage youth and elders.
Health systems research and performance measurement is a priority area for circumpolar research. The shared context of circumpolar health systems and political affiliations makes for informative international comparisons. As with our partnerships, our research agenda is derived from a connection between the local and global in circumpolar health.
